Our Fellowships invite experienced professionals, educators, administrators, and senior practitioners to contribute to the long-term development of NIRMAN while becoming part of the intellectual and everyday life of the institution.
Each Fellowship is developed individually around the Fellow's experience, the area of work, and the evolving life of NIRMAN. While many involve extended residential stays, others take different forms depending on the project and the opportunities that emerge through conversation.

Why Professional Fellowships?
For more than thirty years, people have come to NIRMAN from many different backgrounds. Teachers, artists, researchers, and visitors of every discipline have shaped the institution in lasting ways.
Fellows work alongside NIRMAN's permanent team on clearly defined areas of work that strengthen the institution and leave something lasting behind. More than a consultancy or volunteer role, a Professional Fellowship is an opportunity to help shape NIRMAN's artistic, educational, organisational and ecological culture—not only through your work, but through the questions you ask, the conversations you begin, and the experience you share with those who will carry the work forward.

Each fellowship is shaped around the Fellow’s experience and interests, alongside the evolving needs and possibilities at NIRMAN.
You might be a school leader, arts administrator, senior artist, nonprofit professional, fundraiser, curator or organisational leader—or someone whose experience crosses several fields. You may be on sabbatical, taking a career break, recently retired, or simply at a point when you would like your experience to contribute to something larger than a single project.
What matters most is depth of experience, curiosity, generosity, and an interest in building alongside others.
Life at NIRMAN
Most Fellows live at NIRMAN, becoming part of its everyday life alongside children, teachers, artists, researchers and other residents. Shared meals, conversations, performances, music, the school and the Gangavan Forest all form part of the environment in which the work happens.
