Our vision

Our vision is an India and a world where girls and boys of all backgrounds can learn equally and excellently, leaders of their worlds, their lives rich with the arts. Since its inception twenty-six years ago, NIRMAN has been conducting research, building arts and environment programs, and enriching the lives of children, youth and their families.

NIRMAN runs a research centre, an innovative children's school, and arts studios. We work in both the city and village, with people of all ages and backgrounds, in actively environmentally-conscious ways.

We believe in intellectual and academic work coupled with practical work on the ground.

A taste of our activities

Southpoint School Fair

Our children and teachers explore a theme for the entire year, in interdisciplinary and exciting ways. Their work is showcased in a fair that is open to all. Performances, exhibitions, food, and surprises!

Children's Fantasy Literature

Funded by the Sir Ratan TATA Trust, the outcome of this project was seven fantastical children's books set in Banaras. They were published by Eklavya and Tulika Books and are available for purchase online and in bookstores.

Confluence:
Artist Residency

Visiting artists from India, the USA, Germany, and the UK joined together for collaborative dance, theatre, and video projects

We welcome interns and applicants
for our several projects, including in teaching, research, community-building, and creative administration.

We are also currently developing our riverside campus. To support this, we need collaborators with skills in design, architecture, engineering, documentation, agriculture, and forestry.
