The NIRMAN Residency offers time, space, community, and dialogue within an active educational, artistic, research, and ecological campus in Varanasi. Residents pursue their own work while becoming part of a living community of artists, educators, children, scholars, and the surrounding landscape.

Some residents spend most of their time immersed in writing, making, or research. Others choose to engage more deeply with the life of the campus through dialogue, workshops, performances, or community activities. There is no single way to experience NIRMAN.

Rooted in Varanasi and extending from the city to our rural forest campus, the residency offers a place to think, create, and connect—at your own pace.

Independent residencies​
For artists, writers, researchers, educators, and creative practitioners pursuing self-directed work.

We welcome 8-10 residents per four-week session.
OCTOBER - APRIL
Collaborative residencies
For companies, collectives, laboratories, university groups, and artistic teams.

Groups of up to 8  apply for an intensive retreat of 3-14 days.
YEAR-LONG
Thematic residencies
​Shorter residencies centered around a shared question, practice, or field of inquiry.

Independent Residencies begin at US $1,450 for four weeks, including accommodation, meals, workspaces, and the full residency programme.

Suites and family accommodation are available. 

​A limited number of scholarships are offered each year.
